The German Canadian Business and Professional Association has been in existence since the early 1950’s. It started as an organization that allowed German Canadian Businessmen to network and to provide assistance and share knowledge. Over the years it has evolved into more than just the above. Today it is also a socio-cultural organization that promotes German culture, language, and charitable causes. In recent years, the Association has supported and promoted the greater Windsor Community by sponsoring performances of the Windsor Symphony, the Windsor Art Gallery, the Capitol Theatre and Easter Seal Association. In conjunction with the Windsor Development Commission, the Association has hosted German business people looking to locate in the area. The construction of a German Senior Citizen Retirement Home - Heimathof, was spearheaded by our Association. In the past we have provided scholarships for German Language Studies at the University of Windsor and provided financial assistance to the Student Foreign Exchange Program of the tri-county area. We provide financial support to the Teutonia Club, its Dance Group, the Choir and the Youth Soccer Team. Our support is not limited to those of German descent. Financial support was recently given to the Italian Canadian Handi-Capable Association to help pay down the cost of their new facility and other expenses. Charity Golf Tournaments, in support of The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, were held in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Annual Raffles in support of The Hospice have been held since 2007. Our monthly meetings feature guest speakers from all walks of life: industry, business, politics, education, professions and the arts. They allow members to interact with our guest speakers and each other and to enjoy a sumptuous brunch prepared by the Teutonia kitchen staff. On occasion we have had joint meetings with other Business and Professional Associations in the province. If you originally came to Canada from Germany or are of German descent we would like to invite you to one of our meetings to find out for yourself what we are about and perhaps to join our group as a Member.
